Eli Smith, CEO

Eli Smith is a committed and energetic entrepreneur who was born in Elmira, NY. He is following in the footsteps of his parents, who were successful business owners for more than 40 years. In 2012 he began SGTR, formally known as So Gone Trash Removal. He made a start by cleaning and removing trash from basements and attics. Now, he owns SGTR and E. Smith Contractors which are now both MBE certified general construction companies. He is hopeful that one day, one of his own five children will be inspired to make a difference in the community they live in by starting their own business.

He most recently was awarded the 2019 National Harriet Tubman Award from Sean embodiment of the lauded characteristics that made Harriet Tubman who she was.

His community involvement includes sitting on the boards of the Syracuse Boys and Girls Clubs, The Association of Builders and Contractors(Empire State Chapter), and the Urban Business Association of Syracuse. He is also an alumnus of Babson College and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program. Most recently, he was recognized by local news channels for purchasing two Harriet movie showings. He gave over 200 free movie tickets to children and members of the community so that they could see the story of Harriet Tubman and feel inspired.

Currently operating out of offices in D.C. and Syracuse, Eli continues to give back to his community by mentoring students at area high schools and colleges, including Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College. He can also be seen at local events and business fairs, recruiting employees and independent contractors to be a part of his growing corporation.
